MAPS-MD Issues Bulletin
July 2001
Faxed Confirmations for Treatment Plans, DCWs to End Soon
Please note that beginning August 17, 2001, MAPS-MD will no longer fax confirmations of receipt of treatment plans and data collection worksheets.
Billing for Residential Treatment Centers (RTC)
Providers may not submit HCFA 1500 claims for services rendered to a consumer while she / he receiving treatment from an RTC (e.g. medication management, consultations). The only other services billable to MAPS-MD during a consumer’s RTC stay are commercial lab providers and transitional services (which much include a modifier.)
Suspended or Terminated Providers: Correction needs to be made with Medicaid
When providers receive an updated copy of their license from DHMH, the provider must ensure that Maryland Medicaid has this information updated (phone # 410-767-5430). MAPS-MD continuously monitors providers’ status with Medicaid. If it is found that a provider is suspended or terminated with Medicaid, the provider will be end-dated immediately in MAPS-MD’s referral data base and claims system. As appropriate, providers will receive letters stating that their records in MAPS-MD’s referral system and claims system have been terminated. Providers who wish to return to active status with MAPS-MD must contact the Medicaid Master Provider Enrollment File at 410-767-5340 to take corrective action with Medicaid. If no corrective action is taken, and if there are payments related to this issue, the payments will be retracted by MAPS-MD within 30 days after the provider is notified by MAPS-MD.
Please note that corrective action must be taken with Maryland Medicaid; submitting copies of updated licenses to MAPS-MD is not sufficient to restore a provider’s status. Also, please note that any claims submitted by a provider for the period in which their license is expired must be resubmitted after the provider has returned to active status with Medicaid and MAPS-MD.
Once a provider’s status with Medicaid is corrected, the provider should notify MAPS-MD in writing: MAPS-MD Provider Relations, P.O. Box 3190, Columbia, MD 21045-7190, and include a copy of the letter they received from MAPS-MD.
