Reminder regarding billing for Special Acute Hospitals

Billing room and board charges:
Revenue code 100 (all-inclusive room and board) is an acceptable/ payable code for inpatient room and board for special acute hospitals. Remember that when billing this code, no ancillary charges will be paid. Revenue code 124 is also an acceptable/ payable code for inpatient room and board for special acute hospitals. If a provider's interim rate includes ancillary services according to the provider's most recent cost report, these services will not be separately reimbursed.

Attention All Providers: Mandatory Provider Update

For the next several months, Maryland Health Partners will be in the process of sending out a mailing to every provider who has a Medicaid number registered with MAPS-MD. Included in the mailing is a MANDATORY MAPS-MD Provider Action Request Form for ALL providers to fill out and return to MAPS-MD so that MAPS-MD can verify the provider information it has on file. Providers should follow the directions on the form to make any corrections to information such as addresses, fax numbers, etc. Additionally, it is mandatory that all providers, including those who have no corrections, fill out the portion of the form related to specialties, techniques, languages, and age groups as well as the section which indicates whether the provider is or is not currently accepting referrals for service from the Public Mental Health System. This requirement is part of MAPS-MD's ongoing efforts to give providers referrals appropriate for the special populations they serve.

Authorization Fax Program Alert

If you receive your authorization letters via facsimile, you may occasionally get authorization letters that you have previously received. This is due to requested corrections and should be disregarded as a duplicate copy. In addition, if you are not signed up to participate in the authorization fax program (e.g. receive your authorization letters via fax rather than by mail) and are interested, please fill out an authorization fax program form. This form is on the MAPS-MD Web site. If you do not have access to the web, a copy of the form will be included in the provider update mailing discussed above.
